How To Install Sims 4 On Windows 8

Installing The Sims 2 on Windows viii or 8.1 Guide

I have seen a few folks struggling to install The Sims 2 on Windows 8 or viii.1 and figured I'd write out how I finally got information technology working in case it helped someone.  I used these really easy, helpful Youtube video'due south (iii parts) to assistance me and am only writing this out to assistance.

• Yous can install this on any drive.  It needs to be in the Program Files Binder and non Program Files (x86).  For case C:\Program Files and not C:\Program Files (x86).
• Please name any created folders exactly equally I accept washed, I learnt the long way that information technology has to be exact.
• I take only tried to install this using the CD's - not sure if it works with Origin downloads or non.
• This guide assumes you lot desire a completely fresh install and accept no saved games etc.  If yous do have ones you lot would like to keep, move the saved games somewhere safety!
• You lot can run The Sims 2 in a window even with Windows 8 or viii.one.  This is explained at the terminate of the guide.

1. The files used to actually install the game demand to be copied onto your C Bulldoze.  You lot tin install it from here to any other drive.  To start with open your C Bulldoze and create a new folder called Deejay Images.

2. Inside the newly created Deejay Images folder create a new folder and call information technology disk1.

three. Now popular your The Sims 2 CD 1 into the drive and open a second window to explore it.  Highlight all the files (either by dragging your mouse over all of them, or ctrl + a) and copy them.

4. Open the other window that had our disk1 binder in it and click into the disk1 folder and paste.  This will copy everything from The Sims 2 CD 1 into the disk1 folder.  We need to do this for each CD.

5. In one case it'southward copied nosotros repeat this until all the CD's are on your difficult bulldoze.  I have 4 CD'south in my box to copy over and it should look like this. CD ii is copied into the disk2 folder, CD three into the disk3 binder etc.

six. Once all your disks are copied, open the disk1 binder and let's start installing!  You need to double click the Autorun.exe

seven. Important - Click Advanced User and make sure you pick the drive yous want to install to, and that information technology is in the Programme Files and not Program Files (x86) folder. Put in your game serial number.  Let information technology install.  If you lot accept named the folders correctly, information technology will automatically load CD2, CD3 etc.

Once it's installed, click Quit.  You can save the Disk Image and so you don't have to re-copy it in case you need to reinstall - But move it to a different location and rename it.  If y'all have more expansions/stuff packs to install, keep the Disk Images folder on your C Drive for now, just empty it ready for the side by side pack.

Open the TS2_Update folder and copy everything in it.  Then go to the bulldoze you installed The Sims 2 on, in my case F Drive - F:\Plan Files\EA GAMES\The Sims two and paste.  If yous get a pop upwardly bulletin - you want to click Replace the files in the Destination, and do that for all items.

11. The base game is now fully installed and will work.  I am using a No CD patch for mine, equally my disk drive is really noisy. These are very easy to find via Google, and need to be for the last installed pack for your game.

12. Expansion or Stuff Packs.  The Installation society for The Sims 2 can be found here. If you want to install any of these, the process is exactly the aforementioned until point 8.

• Popular in the CD for the pack you want to install, copy everything on the disk and paste it under the correctly named folder in C:\Disk Images and repeat this for each disk the pack might contain.
• One time all the disks have been copied - click Autorun.exe and let information technology install.  It will patch itself.  Once it's done recollect to either delete or save the folders (in a new location) in Disk Images before you re-create the next pack into that folder.
• Rinse and repeat for each pack y'all want to install.
• Play the GAME! Yay!
• EDIT: Depending on your PC Setup - you may have to right click the Shortcut and Run as Administrator, or Run in Compatibility Fashion.  XP Service Pack iii seems to work for most folks, but non anybody.

13. If y'all would like to run The Sims 2 in a window, correct click the shortcut on your desktop that you will use to load the game, and click Properties. In where it says Target, click at the very finish (conscientious not to delete any of it and type in -w (with a space).  It should await similar:

"F:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff\TSBin\Sims2Launcher.exe" -w

Simply with which ever drive y'all installed to, and which e'er pack yous last installed.

Troubleshooting

• If your Simmies have a weird black box around their feet, which is a known result with new graphics cards, you can become rid of it by adjusting the in game shadows.
