Or is that part of Rufus?  Have not used that tool so i exercise not know if you demand to do it as a separate pace.

  • Why are you needing to do this?

Driblet the ISO into Windows Deployment services and network/PXE boot the computer you want to run,

Or clone the principal computer to the one yous demand to redeploy.

  • In rufus, make sure you set the Partition Scheme and System type correctly. Information technology defaults to a UEFI option, which volition not work with XP.

Additionally, are these two particular machines set to enable USB booting in the bios?

  • I would be wary of the type of USB you are using. We've had issues here in house with sure brands of USB's and getting them to be bootable, specifically with Windows install bootables and attempts to make a live USB such equally you are.

I know that certain Kingston and Sandisk USB'southward do not cooperate with a bootable windows ISO, but will work fine for anything Not-windows. 1 of them I used for an install had to exist removed, then plugged back in on the Windows Division screen for it to progress.

Give information technology  shot with another USB. If you lot know your ISO is skillful, you lot know things are partition correctly, so the issue must exist with the directory.

May be worth giving the USB a full wipe outset, then having RUFUS practise a bad blocks scan quick.

I know what you mean, i take tried 2 and they are both drives I regularly use for bootables.  When I went up to get the USB disc drive I remembered having to get information technology one other time; I think I have been through this earlier and had forgot.

it was defaulting to NTFS but for S&Gs I tried setting information technology to Fat32, no joy.

  • If your drive controller is other than what comes with XP, you lot need practise F6 at the drive section of the install and load the driver from floppy or inject the driver into your image using something similar Nlite so reburn it.

  • NFTS is fine.. What I was referring to was the MBR for UEFI vs MBR for BIOS/UEFI

  • as a quick test, yous can always format the USB bulldoze in RUFUS every bit a FreeDos boot disc, and so just copy the XP cd over to it... I've never had an issue with that. You have to manually first the installation process, only it makes the bootable USB role stupid simple.

  • Try to set your drive to Legacy ;)

This seems similar the logical next footstep. I would also ensure your boot is ready to BIOS/Legacy/ATA as mentioned above.
